Planning trip to Alaska

Ever since I came to the US, I’ve been so bz with work and trying to jumpstart this company that I have never had the time to go on an extended holiday outside of California. Surprisingly, my boss pulled me into his office couple of weeks back and lectured me that I need a holiday. If not for his insistence and travel certificate courtesy of the company, I would not have had the urge to even go for one.

Handed to me was an airticket I can use for any trip within the US and The first place that popped into my head was Alaska. I wanted to see the large expanse of ice and to feel the breeze of the artic in my face. Wanted to meet real Eskimos and hear  native huskies howl to the moon. And if God is willing, to even see the flashing Auroras in the northern night skies over Pioneer Peak.

To alot of people, an Aurora is just a like a natural firework display in in the sky. However, an Aurora is more than that. It is actually a testament of God’s Faithfulness and His will for Life to exist on this planet.

Why do I say so?  Well, the Solar Wind generated by the Sun has tremendous effects on all the planets circling it. The Heliospheric Current sheet which is a circular plasma of solar particles creates what you call a solar system wide weather where planets are constantly bombarded by the solar wind. Without a magnetic core, planets like Venus and especially Mars become inhospital wastelands as their atmospheres were long "bleeded" into space.

Without an atmospheric layer of protection, it is difficult if not impossible for carbon-based lifeforms to exist. The reason why we have an atmosphere and life is able to exist on this planet is credited to Earth’s unique magnetic iron core and the Auroras we see are dangerous solar wind particles interacting with Earth’s Magnetic field. Thus, the Northern Lights at least to me is a testament of His faithfulness and His miracle of Life itself.

      Hope to book the tickets soon… Can’t wait… =)
